They are distinct from SHA-224 and SHA-256 even though their outputs are of the same size.</p> </dd> </dl> <h1 id="RETURN-VALUES">RETURN VALUES</h1> <p>These functions return a <b>EVP_MD</b> structure that contains the implementation of the symmetric cipher.
